Blooper.
"Your journey doesn't end here.
It just started."
I finally understood why people
cautioned me when cadet life ended.
I used to think my responsibility was
just to train my men, care for them and
discipline them. Or, I would be in a
cosy office environment churning out
paperwork.
I was right. Till today.
A division live firing exercise was held
and I had to be there.
My job scope took a drastic turn.
All alone without anyone to guide me,
I was lost and it was my turn to deal.
My deck of cards were a bundle of
bombs. There were no men to talk to,
no colleagues to ask.
The angle of death must have been
lurking somewhere, for I dealt the cards
to the wrong table.
There was no turning back.
My world began to spin and soon it
spiralled out of control.
This was real.
People that usually never took another glance
at me, were now vying to be first in the
queue to get a piece of me.
A little negligence, a few numbers difference;
I could've killed my mates.
I've nothing left to say.
