The Higher You Go, The Lonelier It Gets.

The decision to turn the offshore islands into a resort
for the super rich came out in the papers awhile ago. Will the
locals never set foot on the islands again?

Well, I haven't been to most of them. The most common excuse
would probably be that there's nothing much to see or do there.
I guess the murky green waters and the horizon lined with ships
isn't particularly attractive huh? Seriously, how is this going
to be transformed into something better than phuket?

Whilst taking up scuba diving, I had the opportunity to experience
local marine life around Pulau Hantu. Anxious to explore this marine world,
my heart was racing as I descended into the milky abyss. Visibility was
fairly good at 3 meters? What greeted me when my flippers touched the seabed
was appalling.

Visibility had deteriorated to a mere arm's length, due to some dumbass
who decided to start kicking up the silt. The coral reef was blanketed with
a thick layer of silt; as though they were chucked aside and left to rot.
At that time, there were land reclaimation activities around the area - probably
for the new plan.

After sometime, I began to question the existance of marine life there.
For the hours spent there, only one sea snake and a tiny fish came into view.
Has the preparation for a Unique Singapore destroyed what she truly had to
offer?
